When the whole of India has taken on the job of spreading hatred against each other and when we have so many Members of Parliament who have landed in the Indian Parliament after propagating hatred, why should Dainik Bhaskar not join the bandwagon? In a shameful piece, the DB Star section of the Dainik Bhaskar Raipur edition has written a horrifying derogatory piece against Guru Gobind Singh.

IN a disgusting small piece published on page 5 of the Raipur edition of the DB Star -an accompanying supplement to the main Dainik Bhaskar daily newspaper, in the euphemistically called column ‘Inspirational’, an anonymous writer says that the Tenth Sikh Master -Guru Gobind Singh Ji distributed liquor- Madira so that the Sikhs could learn concentration skills. I could not even fully read it. It is so disgusting.

The Sikhs in Raipur are severely agitated about it and they will be protesting tomorrow outside the office of Dainik Bhaskar. A meeting of all Singh Sabhas and Sikh organisations of Raipur will take place at Gurdwara Baba Buddha Ji in Raipur to chalk out a course of social and political action against the newspaper for its highly blasphemous writing.

Sikhs have to accept this challenge boldly. After television, newspapers are posing a grave challenge to Sikhs and Sikhism. Some time back, Hindustan Times depicted a Sikh army person smoking in a cartoon.

For God’s sake, we do not want any coverage of Sikhs and Sikhism in newspapers like Dainik Bhaskar! We are happy without it.

We have not forgotten the treatment meted out by the Dainik Bhaskar to Jarnail Singh in Delhi when he protested by throwing his shoe at the then Home Minister P. Chidambaram.

Dainik Bhaskar must unequivocally apologise, pinpoint the responsibility of the writer and the editor so that legal action can be taken against them. Even if Dainik Bhaskar apologises, Sikhs must initiate legal proceedings against the newspaper management, editor and writer, so that they learn a lesson and the newspaper does not commit such gross abuse again.

Sikhs all around India must make a protest bonfire of Dainik Bhaskar and protest outside the offices of the newspaper. Sikhs must boycott the newspaper -lock, stock and barrel. No Sikh, worth his salt and image, must ever touch the newspaper Dainik Bhaskar. All journalists of the paper must be boycotted by Sikh organisations and political parties.

Hadd hai! Enough is enough.
