In an unprecedented but much-needed order, the chief minister of Punjab -Captain Amarinder Singh has ordered an indefinite curfew in the entire state of Punjab without relaxation whatsoever. All deputy commissioners of all districts have been ordered to issue the curfew orders forthwith and ensure strict and complete compliance.

AS THE SPREAD OF THE COVID19 VIRUS VICTIMS STEADILY INCREASES in Punjab, the state government has ordered a complete curfew without any relaxation for anyone for any time. It is a 24-hour curfew and this writer has heard government announcements on the streets of Ludhiana asking residents to stay put at home and warned of strict action against violators of the orders.

The return of many Punjab residents from Coronavirus-affected countries like Italy, the United Kingdom, United States and other parts of Europes has particularly affected the Doaba region of the state. In the last few days, while the sensible and devoted are working overtime to help humanity in this hour of distress and agony, some idiots are dancing on the streets.

The thumping of thalis and conchs could have been clearly avoided, as it has added to the celebration spree amongst the totally illiterate and stupid people on the streets. The owners of some chemist shops and liquor vends want to cash in on the agony showing crass inhuman and selfish tendencies.

The morons at the SGPC, instead of showing leadership quality -which in any case was not expected, started Kar Sewa in Patiala. The Sikh religious and political leadership has not risen to the occasion.

The humanitarian contribution of United Sikhs, Khalsa Aid and many other regional groups across Punjab, Delhi and the world is exemplary.  It is comforting to note that the DSGMC has opened Gurdwara inns as care centres.

Even the Chief Minister of Punjab woke up late. Nevertheless, now he has. However, as I hear the movement of two-wheelers by rowdies on the roads as I type these lines, there is no choice but to strictly enforce the curfew with hefty fines.

Meanwhile, thank you to the doctors, paramedics, health workers, pilots, pursers, air hostesses, airport staff, media the police and the administration for attempting to put some sense in a senseless and mentally-broke population.
