Recognizing the commitment shown by the Sikh community worldwide in living by the teachings of Guru Nanak Sahib and acknowledging the Sewa of Sikh Australians during the Covid19 pandemic, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison in a beautifully worded message to Sikhs across Australia and the world has greeted Sikhs on the occasion of the 552nd birth anniversary of the founder of the Sikh way of life. WSN reports.

Since the Covid19 pandemic, earlier and beyond, whether it is unprecedented forest fires or other calamities -big or small, Sikh Australians have reached out to their communities with food, logistical support and succour. Acknowledging this, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison in his message praises the Sikh way of life of kindness and generosity and of service and perseverance and honours the Australian Sikh community for its generosity and valued contribution in his greetings to Sikhs on the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak.

“I wish you all the best for a safe and joyful celebration in honour of Guru Nanak and every happiness for the year ahead.”

Saying that the Sikh Australians have demonstrated time and again what’s important, the Australian Prime Minister states, “This is a time for Sikh people everywhere to honour your faith and heritage as you reflect on Guru Nanak’s teachings, and what it means to live a life full of love, honesty and service.”

“Devotion to community is at the heart of Sikhism. Your community spirit has been called upon countless times over the past two years, and you have answered every call with energy, care and concern.”

Using the Sikh nomenclature of “Sewa” in his note, PM Morrison has noted that the service of the Sikhs is a reminder to all Australians that “no challenge is too great if good people tackle it together.”

“With every act of Sewa, you contribute to one of Australia’s most shining achievements -that we are the most successful multicultural nation on earth,” he added.

Significantly, the Australian Prime Minister has greeted the Sikhs in the past on Baisakhi and other occasions.

The Australian Immigration and Multicultural Affairs Minister Alex Hawke and the Australian leader of the opposition Anthony Albanese have also recognized Sikh Sewa and greeted Sikhs on the occasion of Guru Nanak Gurpurab.
