Veteran Akali strongman Ranjit Singh Brahmpura bids goodbye to Badals
Unable to withstand public pressure on the issue of handling the sacrilege issue by his party –Shiromani Akali Dal led by Parkash Singh Badal and Sukhbir Singh Badal, the doyen of Akali politics in the Majha region of Punjab –Ranjit Singh Brahmpura, who has a large following of traditional Akalis in the region, today bid goodbye to the Badals.
He is also a Member of the Indian Parliament but has announced that he will not contest in the forthcoming Parliamentary elections in 2019.
He has resigned from all party posts including Senior Vice President and member of the Core Committee of the party.
Like Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, he has not quit the party totally and has declared that he will continue to work for the party. The move is aimed at Sukhbir Singh Badal and his wayward methods of working which has landed the party in a huge predicament.
He clearly mentioned that he was upset the way the issue of sacrilege, pardon to Gurmeet Ram Rahim was handled and taunted the party leadership by saying that, “there are enough wise people in the party like Sukhbir Singh Badal and Bikram Singh Majitha.”
WSN has been consistently saying that nemesis is catching up. More wickets are likely to tumble in the coming days? Contemporary politics in Punjab is in for a change. How, where, when, who is still in the realm of speculation as alternative forces and parallel leadership is still to gain ground.
