Dal Khalsa to hold Rights March in Amritsar on November 3

To protest the November 1984 attack on innocent Sikhs as one of the largest state-sponsored pogroms in India -the so-called largest democracy in the world, Dal Khalsa will hold a Rights and Justice March in Amritsar on November 3, culminating in the foreground of Darbar Sahib where a candle-light vigil will be held.

Speaking to WSN, party general secretary Paramjit Singh Tanda said that “denial of justice is a way of life for India -from New Delhi to Bargari to Behbal Kalan and we are determined to fight back.”  “It is time to contest the impunity granted to the police,” he added.

While Sikh lawyers are still engaged in a bitter struggle to get justice in Indian courts, Kanwarpal Singh emphasized that, “the community has lost all hopes to get justice from the Indian state and it is for this that we would knock the doors of the UN. With forums like Canada’s Ontario State Assembly and USA’s Pennsylvania assembly recognising the November 1984 killings as genocidal, it is now well-nigh impossible for India to block the truth.”
