With the SIT on 1984 in a mood to ensure that justice is done to the victim families of November 1984 genocidal killings, there is news that Cham Kaur has deposed as to how Sajjan Kumar was leading the marauding mobs out to kill the Sikhs. She becomes the second woman after Sheela Kaur to depose against Sajjan Kumar. Significantly, standing in the witness box, she recognised Sajjan Kumar who was present in the courtroom as an accused.

Her 7-page affidavit in possession with the WSN, mentions that she was a witness to Sajjan Kumar inciting the mobs and shouting, “Hamari Maa mar di, Sardaron ko mar do” -They have killed our mother, Kill the Sardars.”

She has narrated how the mobs chased them on the second floor of their building and snatched her son Kapoor Singh and father Sardarji Singh and threw them down to the ground floor.

She has narrated that it was only after the army intervention that she and others in her neighbourhood at the DDA Flats, near Shivaji Nagar were taken to Rani Bagh relief camp.
