In a congratulatory note to the newly elected Pakistan Premier Imran Khan, the first Sikh New Zealand Member of Parliament –Kanwaljit Singh Bakshi has urged that as part of the historic 550 year birth anniversary celebrations of the founder of the Sikh faith –Guru Nanak, the Pakistan government may accord Vatican status to Nankana Sahib –the birth place of Guru Nanak. He said that this will pave way for easy and unfettered access to Sikhs worldwide and this would be a landmark gesture by the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and will be very well appreciated by Sikhs across the globe.
