His­to­rian, ex­plorer and doc­u­men­tal­ist Amardeep Singh is putting on film years of his re­search on the trav­els of first Sikh Mas­ter -Guru Nanak Sahib in Pak­istan and other coun­tries in a Doc­u­men­tary in col­lab­o­ra­tion with SIKHLENS. The World Sikh News ap­peals to Sikhs to con­tribute whole­heart­edly to the mak­ing of this doc­u­men­tary which will be a huge step to­wards cel­e­brat­ing the 550 years of Guru Nanak and pre­sent­ing the life and works of Guru Nanak to the world com­mu­nity.

To spread the mes­sage of hu­man­ity, Guru Nanak cov­ered a large ge­o­graph­i­cal ta­pes­try. In the 21st cen­tury this area com­prises of 9 na­tions: Pak­istan, In­dia, China, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Saudi Ara­bia, Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan. To break bar­ri­ers across faiths by en­gag­ing in spir­i­tual di­a­logues, Guru Nanak vis­ited more than 150 Is­lamic, Sufi and Hindu sites to seek and im­part spir­i­tual wis­dom. How­ever, to­day, the nar­ra­tive stands lim­ited to gur­d­waras at Nankana Sahib, Kar­tarpur Sahib and Panja Sahib.

Thus, to­day, there is a com­pelling need to ex­plore and film the sites vis­ited by Guru Nanak so that the faded mem­o­ries can be kept alive. This ap­peal is to sup­port the film­ing cost of 40+ in­ter­faith sites as­so­ci­ated with Guru Nanak’s trav­els across Pak­istan. It will take 60 days to com­plete this phase.

Af­ter film­ing in Pak­istan, the pro­ject will ded­i­cate its at­ten­tion to film­ing the nar­ra­tive in the re­main­ing 8 coun­tries. This process will take an ad­di­tional 10 months. The post-pro­cess­ing will take 12 months. Cur­rently, we plan to re­lease the doc­u­men­tary in No­vem­ber 2020.

Amardeep Singh, from Sin­ga­pore, is lead­ing this pro­ject. He has a proven track record of de­vel­op­ing unique and mon­u­men­tal works. Most note­wor­thy are Amardeep’s two books en­ti­tled ‘LOST HER­ITAGE The Sikh Legacy in Pak­istan’ and ‘THE QUEST CON­TIN­UES: LOST HER­ITAGE The Sikh Legacy in Pak­istan’, in which he has ex­plored the rem­nants of the Sikh legacy in 126 cities and vil­lages in Pak­istan, in­clud­ing many places where the com­mu­nity has had no ac­cess for seven decades.

Amardeep Singh has also pro­duced two vi­sual film doc­u­men­taries ‘PEER­ING SOUL’ and ‘PEER­ING WAR­RIOR’, which pre­sent his field ex­plo­rations across Pak­istan.
