Amrith Kaur is new Sikh Coalition Legal Director
NEW YORK: With eleven years of litigation experience, Amrith Kaur joins the Sikh Coalition legal team. She has worked as an assistant in the state’s attorney office in Cook County, Illinois. During this time, she also served on Cook County’s Hate Crime Advisory Council, served as a liaison with the Department of Justice’s Hate Crime Training Initiative, and led successful projects to identify non-violent offenders for alternative rehabilitation programs”, as per a release of the Sikh Coalition.
Amrith Kaur has a thorough understanding of the work of the Sikh Coalition. After 9/11, she co-drafted a Senate resolution that successfully strengthened existing hate crime prosecution and participated in the grassroots activism.
