Budhsinghwala mother cremated with full Khalsa honours
With her body draped in the Khalsa flag, Bibi Surjit Kaur, octogenarian mother of chief of Khalistan Liberation Force Bhai Gurjant Singh was cremated at her native village Budhsinghwala with full Khalsa honours by various Panthic organisations and leaders.
Eighty-three year old Surjit Kaur passed away last night after a brief illness. A large cross section of Sikh society, attended her cremation, with Sangat from nearby villages and leaders of various Sikh groups who continue to uphold the demand for an independent Sikh state.
The pyre was lit by her lone surviving son Jagroop Singh amidst slogans of Khalistan Zindabad. It may be borne in mind that three of her other sons, including Gurjant Singh Budhsingwala, were killed by the security forces of Punjab during the Sikh struggle for rights in the last decades of the last century.
Bhai Daljit Singh Bittu, Kanwarpal Singh, Sarbjit Singh Ghuman , Bhai Amrik Singh Ajnala, head of breakaway faction of Damdami Taksal, Manjinder Singh Issi and representatives of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) attended the cremation.
