Calgary resolved against Quebec’s discriminatory and divisive Bill 21 which bans wearing of religious symbols by public servants during duty hours. Brampton and Victoria councils have adopted similar resolutions. WSO has welcomed the move.

CALGARY CITY COUNCIL unanimously adopted a motion by Mayor Nenshi, Councillor George Chahal and others opposing Quebec’s divisive Bill 21 that prohibits public servants from wearing religious symbols as “regressive in intent and bigoted in effect.” World Sikh Organisation welcomed the move and hoped political leaders across Canada will unite to condemn this gross threat to human rights in multicultural Canada.
