While emphasizing the need to focus on environment, the young writer wishes to emulate the nature loving activities of Guru Har Rai Ji.

“Pavan Guru Pani Pita, Mata Dharat Mahat” -Air, is our master; Water, the father and Earth the great Mother of all” is what Sikhs recite every morning at the end of Japji Sahib.

On every 14 March, young Sikhs in Indonesia, in consonance with this day’s celebration worldwide, we celebrate “Sikh Environment Day” to commemorate the Gurgaddi Diwas of the seventh Guru, Guru Har Rai Ji.

Guru Har Rai Ji was known as a environment and animal lover. He nursed injured animals and sent them back to the wild. Guru Sahib had a wide collection of herbs and plants as well as many trees and flowers in his garden. Gurmat School celebrates the Sikh Environment day every year in March by focusing on educating students to take good care of their environment through different activities.

Sikh Environment Day

We recite Shabads that focus on protecting the environment, conduct recycling projects, do clean-up activities within our Gurudwara and school and also local areas. We also engage in tree-planting activities.

If you like our stories, do follow WSN on Facebook.

We want our students to understand how important it is that all of us together take good care of our planet. Like our Guru Sahib, it is everyone’s duty to protect the well-being of the planet, the plants and the animals.
