So­cial­ist ac­tivist Dr Dharamvir Gandhi of the Na­van Pun­jab Party was de­feated by the Ma­ha­rani of Pa­tiala Pre­neet Kaur for the Pa­tiala seat.

Clearly, the par­lia­men­tary con­tri­bu­tion of Dr Dharamvir Gandhi was not taken into ac­count by the elec­torate in mak­ing their choice. Dr Gandhi not only raised Pun­jab is­sues but also was a peo­ple’s man in the last five years de­spite he quit­ting the Aam Aadmi Party on ide­o­log­i­cal grounds.
