Dal Khalsa activist Pritpal Singh briefs Swiss government official of rising intolerance and subjugation of Dalits and minorities in India.
Perturbed at the rising intolerance and hate crimes in India, a Dal Khalsa delegation led by Pritpal Singh met a senior Swiss government official Ms Valérie Wagner and apprised her about the rise of Hindu radicalism in the country.
Dal Khalsa secretary for human rights Pritpal Singh said that “minorities and Dalits in India are reeling from rising radicalism.” “The lynching of Dalits and Muslims by cow vigilantes and pseudo-patriots has become order of the day. ‘In the name of cow’, Dalits and Muslims are being slaughtered by frenzied mobs engineered by Hindutva elements” with the state machinery watching with awe and sometimes participating in the crime.
Dalits and Muslims are facing worst kind of mob violence all over the India especially in the cow-belt states. Not a day passes when they are not subjected to hatred and intolerance, said he. He further told Swiss authorities that people are fast losing faith in democracy”.
Referring to Indian Prime Minister Modi’s condemnation on rise of violent attacks on cattle traders, beef eaters and dairy farmers, Singh told her that it’s too mild to reverse the situation. “PM’s empty words minus action mean nothing”.

Singh also discussed the human rights situation in Kashmir, Punjab and elsewhere with Valérie Wagner who is in charge of Asia in the Human Security Division at Federal department of Foreign Affairs. the lady officer. Deploring the studied silence of international community, he told the lady officer in a one hour meeting at the Swiss Parliament in Bern that ‘Kashmir is bleeding and the world is mum’. Even the United Nations is unmoved by sufferings and pain of Kashmiri people. Accompanied by human rights activist Bishan Singh, he urged the Swiss government to press upon the UN to intervene.
