Members and leaders of Sikh political bodies -Dal Khalsa and Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar were detained outside Darbar Sahib, Amritsar, while attempting to march towards the Amritsar offices of the India’s Secret service agency RAW. A WSN report.

Nearly a hundred  Dal Khalsa activists led by Paramjit Singh Mand were protesting the extrajudicial murders of Sikh insurgent Paramjit Singh Panjwar in Pakistan and pro-Sikh freedom protagonist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada, alleging that these were covert acts of the Dirty Tricks Department of India’s intelligence bodies, led by the RAW -Research And Analysis Wing.

The demonstrators were raising slogans in favour of Khalistan and dared the police to kill them too.

“We dare the agency to kill us too”, said the spokesperson of the Dal Khalsa Paramjit Singh Mand.

His associates were carrying placards reading, “We are also Khalistanis. Kill us too”.  Another placard read: First Panjwar, then Nijjar. Who’s next?”

While India has chosen to remain silent at the killings, Dal Khalsa has chosen to embarrass India by incriminating upfront its intelligence agencies in the killings.

Prior to the protest, Dal Khalsa organised  a memorial service  -Shardanjali Samagam, within Darbar Sahib precincts in memory of Canadian Sikh activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, who was gunned down by unidentified assailants outside Surrey Gurdwara on June 19. Ardas was performed in his memory and leaders of various Sikh bodies attending the ceremony and accorded him  the status of a Sikh martyr.

On behalf of Jathedar Akal Takht, head Granthi Gaini Malkiat Singh presented siropa to Nijjar’s family. Since the family is in Canada, the siropa was received by Dal Khalsa leader Harcharanjit Singh Dhami.

Indian Member Parliament Simranjit Singh Mann and Dal Khalsa president Harpal Singh Cheema warned India of serious repercussions should India continue the extrajudicial killings.

The representatives of various Sikh bodies including Dal Khalsa, Mann Dal, Jagtar Singh Hawara Committee, Daljit Singh Bittu Group asked the Canadian government to act fast and arrest conspirators and killers of Nijjar.

Kanwar Pal Singh said, “We will call upon that international community to reprimand Indian in various forums for its transnational state terrorism.”
