Dal Khalsa seeks experts panel to review Punjab history syllabus

Dal Khalsa, in a statement to the media, has sought the setting up of a high level SGPC Committee of renowned Sikh historians and academicians to review all books or parts thereof, which contain chapters in Sikh and Punjab history.

It is common knowledge that syllabus books are authored by atheists and agnostics, who are totally insensitive to matters of religion, culture and nuances of history. There are others who are currently in the mode of ultra nationalism and therefore highly prone to covert distortions.

The current imbroglio in chapters of Class XII of Punjab School Education Board is not a case in isolation. Even SGPC books have faced criticism. Apart from the need to change the writers, there is need for a permanent Editorial Review Board so that mistakes in syllabus all across the country and whether can be monitored put on the right path.

Tinkering with history is a cultural crime and should be dealt with accordingly, asserted Dal Khalsa spokesman Kanwar Pal Singh.

Sikh Youth of Punjab president Paramjit Singh Mand stressed the need to preserve all original sources of Sikh history, presently available, not only in India but also in Pakistan and other countries.
