Delhi Akali Dal chief, Paramjit Singh Sarna met with the Chairperson of the National Commission for Minorities, Iqbal Singh Lalpura, seeking urgent intervention in the brutal assault on a Sikh youth, Sardar Amol Deep Singh, allegedly by a local councillor’s husband in Kanpur. WSN reports.

For no apparent rhyme or reason, Amol Deep Singh became a victim of road rage when his car was intercepted and he was mercilessly beaten up by the husband of a local Bharatiya Janta Party councillor in the city of Kanpur in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

The violent act caused grave injuries to the young Sikh man, rendering him nearly blind in one eye and leaving him with severe injuries to the head. This heinous act has sparked widespread public outrage.

Addressing the gravity of the incident, Sarna said, “Such reprehensible acts of violence against our community members cannot be overlooked. The assault on Amol Deep Singh highlights the challenges Sikhs face in our society. It’s paramount that justice is served.”

NCM chief Lalpura has given assurances of treating this matter with the gravity it demands and expressed his intention to liaise directly with Uttar Pradesh’s Director General of Police.

Reportedly, Iqbal Singh Lalpura has ensured a prompt and fair investigation and brought the culprits to book. He has also ordered the Uttar Pradesh police to provide a detailed compliance report on the progress of the investigation.

However, the incident’s potential political undertones have created a palpable tension, raising concerns about the investigation’s impartiality.

Emphasizing the importance of faith in the judiciary, Paramjit Singh Sarna has remarked, “It’s crucial that the investigation remains unbiased. Our trust in the judicial system is at stake. We anticipate a rigorous and unbiased inquiry, culminating in the guilty being held accountable.”

The entire Sikh community at large awaits with bated breath, hoping for justice for Amol Deep Singh.
