Guru Gobind Singh Gurpurab on 5 January gains momentum

Across Midlands West in the US, many Gurdwaras have resolved to adopt the Mool Nanakshahi calendar setting in a trend for others to follow so that Guru Gobind Singh Parkash Purab is celebrated on 5 January and Jathedar Akal Takht may review the regressive decision taken early last month.

The Chicago Mool Nanakshahi Calendar Implementation Conference in November may prove to be a game changer with many Gurdwaras adopting the calendar and paving the path for universal acceptance and application of the calendar dates in our personal, social and religious lives.

In the United States of America, the Sikh Religious Society, the oldest and largest of the Midwest Gurdwara since 1970s, took a historical world leadership role in creating a wave for the complete adoption of the Mool Nanakshahi Calendar, along with several other community and religious organizations, whose list of adoptees continues to grow.

The Sikh Religious Society, Illinois has taken the historical world leadership role in creating a wave for the complete adoption of the Mool Nanakshahi Calendar.

Panthic scholars and Gurdwara leaders hope that this momentum may force the SGPC and the Akal Takht Jathedars to review their decision not only regarding celebrating Gurpurab of Guru Gobind Singh Ji on 5 January but also of reviewing and accepting the decision to fully adopt the Mool Nanakshahi calendar.

To continue the campaign, Gurdwaras in Michigan will hold another such conference early next year.
