India celebrates Independence, Dal Khalsa observes Black Day
As India celebrated Independence, hundreds of activists of Dal Khalsa, Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar, Sikh Youth of Punjab and Sikh Federation staged a street protest in Moga, calling 15 August as Black Day. Activists carrying black flags and banners denounced Bargarhi sacrilege, Behbal Kahan firing and Punjab government’s attempts to allow the guilty to go scot-free, political subjugation of Punjab, human rights violations and denial of right to self-determination for the people of Punjab.
Amidst chanting of slogans like ‘Sikhs want Azaadi from India’, party head Harpal Singh Cheema said, “It has been 71 long years since India got freedom, but nothing has changed for Sikhs and other religious and ethnic minorities
