The Global Sikh Coun­cil has strongly con­demned the dis­re­spect to­wards Kash­miri women in the deroga­tory re­marks of the right-wing BJP lead­er­ship. In­dia, known for its cul­tural and eth­i­cal val­ues should rec­og­nize that po­lit­i­cal con­flicts notwith­stand­ing, all peo­ple, par­tic­u­larly women should be ad­dressed and treated with re­spect and dig­nity.  GSC chief Lady Kan­waljit Singh has said, “Sikhs must re­spect the dig­nity and rights of all peo­ple and fol­low the path of Guru Tegh Ba­hadur in up­hold­ing the right to re­li­gion of all peo­ples and com­mu­ni­ties.” She com­pli­mented the Delhi-based Sikh group that en­sured safe travel of Kash­miri women from Pune to their home and hearth in Kash­mir.
