Indian President Droupadi Murmu pays obeisance at Takht Patna Sahib
In a show of humility and respect for the Sikh community, Indian President Droupadi Murmu commenced her three-day Bihar visit yesterday by first paying her respects at Takht Sri Patna Sahib. WSN reports.
The Indian President chose to visit Takht Patna Sahib as the inaugural destination of her Bihar tour and this speaks volumes about her deep-rooted piety.
To Sikhs worldwide, Takht Sri Patna Sahib, also revered as Takht Sri Harimandir Ji, stands as a testament to Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s early years and his significant birth in 1666. It’s a beacon of Sikh spirituality and heritage, a place where history whispers tales of valour, faith, and divine love. Commissioned by the lion-hearted Maharaja Ranjit Singh in the 18th century, this Takht encapsulates the birth and early teachings of the tenth Sikh Guru.
As the general secretary of Takhat Sri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib, Indrajeet Singh observed, they had the privilege to “share the history of this revered place with her.”
To the Sikh community and to those watching, President Murmu’s visit to Takht Patna Sahib wasn’t just a diplomatic gesture; it was a profound salute to a rich tapestry of faith, history, and devotion.
In this age of politics and power plays, it’s heartening to witness a leader of the nation’s stature, start her tour by bowing her head at a revered Sikh Takht.
A Sikh devotee remarked, “President Droupadi Murmu didn’t just offer her prayers; she offered a lesson in humility and reverence for all.”
