The National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN) protests the Indian government’s dilly-dallying at resolving the political conflict in Nagaland and accuses the Indian Government of escalating violence and communal clashes in Manipur, urging international intervention to revive the stagnant Indo-Naga political dialogue. The World Sikh News brings you the latest developments.

AS VIOLENCE IN MANIPUR ESCALATES, the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN), a prominent Naga insurgent group, accused the Indian Government of failing to resolve a 75-year-old political conflict and inciting communal clashes.

In a press statement released by the Government of the Peoples’ Republic of Nagalim, the NSCN called attention to the ongoing crisis in Manipur, a state in India’s North-East, attributing it to the Government of India’s lack of progress in settling the prolonged Indo-Naga political conflict. The insurgent group has criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government in New Delhi for veering from the August 3, 2015 Framework Agreement, leading to a “genocidal pogrom.”

The NSCN alleged that the Indian state is employing a well-planned policy to disintegrate Naga territory by derailing the political negotiation with them. “It is a well-planned policy to disintegrate the Naga territory through every conceivable design which fits into its policy of derailing the political negotiation with the NSCN,” the statement reads.

The Bharatiya Janata Party-led government in New Delhi has been veering from the August 3, 2015 Framework Agreement, leading to a “genocidal pogrom.”

The statement further accuses the Indian state of attempting to portray itself as the “Savior” and the defenders as “culprits” and “offenders.” The NSCN appealed to conscientious individuals, organizations, and the international community to counter-check and oppose this purported state-sponsored communal clash, warning that this could lead to a never-ending cycle of violence amongst different communities.

The NSCN also condemned the BJP-led government’s alleged attempts to establish a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS)-Hindutva totalitarian state in North-East India through communal political engineering.

The release by the External Publicity Wing and the Foreign Affairs Department of the NSCN/GPRN said, “We are also closely watching how India and Myanmar are fomenting conflict and militarization in the Nagas areas under India and Myanmar, as well as among the other communities in India’s current North-East, by arming and inciting one community against the other.”

Asking the international community to take urgent action, the body has appealed to world powers to condemn India’s “divide and rule” policy, oppose such missteps and impose sanctions on the BJP-led government.

Not expecting the government of India to resolve the conflict, NSCN has called for third-party international intervention to resolve the stagnant Indo-Naga political dialogue.

The organization also demanded that the Indian government must be made accountable for its failure to uphold the 2015 Framework Agreement in letter and spirit, an agreement that was signed and witnessed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The NSCN leadership stated, “As the situation in Manipur continues to deteriorate, all eyes are on the Indian Government and the international community to respond to these accusations and calls to action. The pressing need for a resolution to this conflict has never been clearer, and the world waits with bated breath to see how this deeply ingrained political dispute will unfold.”

Not expecting the government of India to resolve the conflict, NSCN has called for third-party international intervention to resolve the stagnant Indo-Naga political dialogue.
