Inspirational Sessions at Gurmat School Jakarta

The Inspirations sessions at the Jakarta Gurmat School are a unique attempt to instill Sikhi spirit and love for Sikhism. The young student-activist briefly shares her experiences.

The regular inspirational sessions organised by graduates -one boy and six girls of the Gurmat School Jakarta are truly an inspiration to love and respect Sikhi.

During the inspirational sessions, popularly called IPS, students recite Shabads and narrate historical Sakhis on a given topic in an interesting way that not only motivates the Sadh Sangat to learn more about Gurbani but also to implement the fundamentals of Sikhi in our daily lives.

So far, four Inspirational sessions have been held on the themes of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, Chaar Sahibzade, Guru Arjun Dev Ji and Guru Nanak Dev Ji. These sessions last for 90 minutes. Starting from April 2017 when we celebrated Vaisakhi -the Birth of the Khalsa, these sessions are very popular among the youth. During Vaisakhi, we recited the story and journey of Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s entire life, from the day he was born till he passed away at Nanded Sahib which was widely appreciated by the Sangat.

During the narration of the Sakhis, we sang Shabads to maintain the Sangat’s interest in the story-telling.

Many members of the Sangat were in tears, extremely touched and mesmerised with the Sakhis of the Gurus. All students and parents yearn for more such inspirational sessions and that is a good sign.
