Man­ish Ti­wari of Con­gress wins Sikh re­li­gious cap­i­tal Anand­pur Sahib

Hail­ing from Lud­hi­ana, Man­ish Ti­wari, who faced the out­sider tag dur­ing the en­tire elec­tion cam­paign for the past few weeks, fought back the bick­er­ing cam­paign of Prem Singh Chan­du­ma­jra of the Shi­ro­mani Akali Dal and de­feated him to win the Anand­pur Sahib seat.

He also de­feated the for­mer deputy speaker of Pun­jab As­sem­bly Bir Devin­der Singh, who was con­test­ing as a nom­i­nee of the Tak­sali Akali Dal -a break­away group from the main­stream Shi­ro­mani Akali Dal.
