Manjit Singh GK escapes arrest as Session Judge grants temporary stay

Granting relief to the DSGMC President Manjit Singh GK, Additional Sessions Judge Satish Kumar Arora at the Patiala House courts temporarily stayed yesterday’s order of the Metropolitan Magistrate Vijeta Singh Rawat directing the police to file an FIR in a case of financial bungling, misappropriation of funds and corruption against Manjit Singh GK and others.

While the Metropolitan Magistrate will hear the case again on 24 December, the Sessions Judge has posted the case for 7 January 2019 and asked the police to bring all records on that date.

It may be noted that DSGMC member Gurmeet Singh Shunty has been pursuing the cases of alleged corruption against the DSGMC chief and the staff members of the DSGMC.

The DSGMC chief and his lawyers forwarded various arguments including section 32 of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Act, 1971 seeking exemption from prosecution, but the Metropolitan Magistrate after consideration of all aspects of the case had dismissed that plea. The present case relates to the siphoning off of a hundred thousand Canadian dollars received by Manjit Singh GK and allegedly misappropriated. It has been alleged that despite evidence, the police too was dilly-dallying in filing an FIR against Manjit Singh GK.
