The Simranjit Singh Mann-led Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar observed Ardas Diwas at Gurdwara Rakabganj Sahib in New Delhi to commemorate the memory of all those killed in November 1984.

Speaking on the occasion, Simranjit Singh Mann debunked the role of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and said that he was single-handed responsible for destroying the identities of many communities and nationalities of the Indian subcontinent.

As the first home minister of independent India, in the year 1948 itself, Sardar Patel issued a circular sent to all Deputy Commissioners of the country, saying, “Sikhs are a criminal tribe.”

In a memorandum to the President of India, Shri Ramnath Kovind, the Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar sought a one acre plot to build a memorial for martyrs Satwant Singh, Beant Singh and Kehar Singh. They also demanded to know how and where were they cremated and what happened to their remains.

The memorandum sought the release of all Sikh political prisoners who have completed their jail terms. The memo also sought that the demands of the Bargari Insaaf Morcha, namely the trial of those accused of desecration and those police personnel responsible for killing innocent peaceful protestors at Behbal Kalan must be punished without delay.
