Mod­ern Bhai Ghanaiyas in ac­tion at Holla Mo­halla

Vol­un­teers nurse the wounded and pro­vide med­ica­tion dur­ing the an­nual Holla Meet at Takht Hazur Sahib, Nanded.

In the true spirit of leg­endary Sikh care-giver Bhai Ghanaiya Ji, vol­un­teers and ac­tivists of the Mum­bai based Sat Sri Akaal Trust, Bhai Ghanaiya As­so­ci­a­tion Mum­bai and the Nasik-based Rain­bow Foun­da­tion, dis­trib­uted med­i­cines free to nearly 5000 pil­grims dur­ing the re­cently con­cluded 3-day Holla Mo­halla cel­e­bra­tions at Nanded. The team mem­bers were seen work­ing to pro­vide med­i­cines and first aid round the clock dur­ing these three days.

Sat Sri Akal Trust has been do­ing this Sewa -ser­vice for hu­mankind, for the last three decades, year af­ter year.

Vol­un­teer doc­tors and health ac­tivists un­der­took spe­cial arrange­ments for med­ica­tion and ban­dages for youth in­jured dur­ing Gatka per­for­mance dur­ing the Na­gar (Na­gar Kir­tan is called Na­gar in Nanded) and the typ­i­cal rit­ual of pass­ing through the belly of the horses be­lieved to be from the lin­eage of the horses in the army of the Tenth Mas­ter -Guru Gob­ind Singh.

At the con­clud­ing cer­e­mony, Tara Singh MLA, pres­i­dent of the Takht Sachk­hand Hazur Sahib Pra­band­hak Com­mit­tee ho­n­oured Pu­ran Singh Banga of the Sat Sri Akal Trust and his as­so­ci­ates for their hu­man­i­tar­ian work. Sim­i­larly, Rain­bow Foun­da­tion ac­tivist Satyen Sethi was also fe­lic­i­tated.
