As the Tamil Di­as­pora world­wide ob­served the tenth an­niver­sary of the killings of Ee­lam Tamils in Sri Lanka, the lead­er­ship of the New De­mo­c­ra­tic Party joined Tamil Cana­di­ans in ‘ho­n­our­ing and re­mem­ber­ing the thou­sands who were killed in the Tamil geno­cide in Sri Lanka.’

Andrea Hor­wath, Leader of the On­tario NDP and On­tar­i­o’s Of­fi­cial Op­po­si­tion joined party leader Jag­meet Singh in “stand­ing with the com­mu­nity in their on­go­ing strug­gle for jus­tice and for for­mal recog­ni­tion of this his­tor­i­cal truth.”

An­drea Hor­wath through her Face­book post ex­pressed sol­i­dar­ity with Ee­lam Tamils and was hope­ful of more Tamil par­tic­i­pa­tion in the so­cial and po­lit­i­cal life of Canada.
