The Special Investigation Team led by Justice Dhingra which re-opened the Sajjan Kumar case leading to his conviction has through a public notice, sought details of 80 cases of November 1984 killings from members of the public.  WSN urges readers to share this on all social media platforms to benefit victim families.

In a public notice published in Hindi newspapers in Delhi and also on the website of the Home Ministry of the Indian government in English and Hindi, the Special Investigation Team under the chairmanship of Justice (Retd.) S. N. Dhingra has sought details in 80 cases registered in Delhi relating to the November 1984 killings.

Members of the public, public spirited lawyers and non-governmental organistions have been asked to gather details and submit the same to the government at the official address of the SIT within two weeks of the notice which was issued on 26 December 2018, which contains the FIR numbers as well as the names of police stations and the names and addresses of the complainants.

This special investigation team was constituted by the Supreme Court of India in the case of Gurlad Singh Kahlon versus Union of India and others in a writ petition filed in 2016.

The public notice states that, “The SIT shall scrutinize the information and finding the same relevant shall send a request letter to the person for appearing before the SIT for oral deposition.

Responding to the public notice, Delhi-based lawyer Harpreet Singh Hora while speaking to the World Sikh News said, “All justice-loving people must coordinate efforts to collect as much information as possible and share the same with the SIT at the earliest.”

The Special Investigation Team constituted under the order of Hon’ble Supreme Court dated 4th December, 2018 in the matter of S. Gurlad Singh Kahlon Vs. Union of India & Ors. vide Writ Petition (Crl.} No. 9/2016 invites the attention of general public for seeking information in respect of under mentioned cases.

Any person in possession of information in respect of these cases should submit the same in writing to the SIT at its office address – Special Investigation Team, Room No. 26, Double Storey Building, Jaisalmer House, 26, Mansingh Road, New Delhi -110011 within 02 weeks from publication  of this  advertisement.

The SIT shall scrutinize the information and on finding the same relevant .shall send a request letter to the person for appearing before the SIT for oral deposition.

The NGOs or public spirited persons are free to help such person who has information in submitting the same to the SIT. The advocates, public spirited persons/NGOs who intend to help SIT may also make request in writing giving the details of the organization and the information possessed by them.
