In a pub­lic no­tice pub­lished in Hindi news­pa­pers in Delhi and also on the web­site of the Home Min­istry of the In­dian gov­ern­ment in Eng­lish and Hindi, the Spe­cial In­ves­ti­ga­tion Team un­der the chair­man­ship of Jus­tice (Retd.) S. N. Dhin­gra has sought de­tails in 80 cases reg­is­tered in Delhi re­lat­ing to the No­vem­ber 1984 killings.

Mem­bers of the pub­lic, pub­lic spir­ited lawyers and non-gov­ern­men­tal or­gan­is­tions have been asked to gather de­tails and sub­mit the same to the gov­ern­ment at the of­fi­cial ad­dress of the SIT within two weeks of the no­tice which was is­sued on 26 De­cem­ber 2018, which con­tains the FIR num­bers as well as the names of po­lice sta­tions and the names and ad­dresses of the com­plainants.

This spe­cial in­ves­ti­ga­tion team was con­sti­tuted by the Supreme Court of In­dia in the case of Gurlad Singh Kahlon ver­sus Union of In­dia and oth­ers in a writ pe­ti­tion filed in 2016.

The pub­lic no­tice states that, “The SIT shall scru­ti­nize the in­for­ma­tion and find­ing the same rel­e­vant shall send a re­quest let­ter to the per­son for ap­pear­ing be­fore the SIT for oral de­po­si­tion.

Re­spond­ing to the pub­lic no­tice, Delhi-based lawyer Harpreet Singh Hora while speak­ing to the World Sikh News said, “All jus­tice-lov­ing peo­ple must co­or­di­nate ef­forts to col­lect as much in­for­ma­tion as pos­si­ble and share the same with the SIT at the ear­li­est.”

The Spe­cial In­ves­ti­ga­tion Team con­sti­tuted un­der the or­der of Hon’ble Supreme Court dated 4th De­cem­ber, 2018 in the mat­ter of S. Gurlad Singh Kahlon Vs. Union of In­dia & Ors. vide Writ Pe­ti­tion (Crl.} No. 9/​2016 in­vites the at­ten­tion of gen­eral pub­lic for seek­ing in­for­ma­tion in re­spect of un­der men­tioned cases.

Any per­son in pos­ses­sion of in­for­ma­tion in re­spect of these cases should sub­mit the same in writ­ing to the SIT at its of­fice ad­dress – Spe­cial In­ves­ti­ga­tion Team, Room No. 26, Dou­ble Storey Build­ing, Jaisalmer House, 26, Mans­ingh Road, New Delhi -110011 within 02 weeks from pub­li­ca­tion  of this  ad­ver­tise­ment.

The SIT shall scru­ti­nize the in­for­ma­tion and on find­ing the same rel­e­vant .shall send a re­quest let­ter to the per­son for ap­pear­ing be­fore the SIT for oral de­po­si­tion.

The NGOs or pub­lic spir­ited per­sons are free to help such per­son who has in­for­ma­tion in sub­mit­ting the same to the SIT. The ad­vo­cates, pub­lic spir­ited per­sons/​NGOs who in­tend to help SIT may also make re­quest in writ­ing giv­ing the de­tails of the or­ga­ni­za­tion and the in­for­ma­tion pos­sessed by them.
