Cocking a snook at the Punjab and Union government moves to defame the Sikh movement for rights and countering the hyperactive Punjab police press briefing calling the flag of Maharaja Ranjit Singh a ‘Khalistan flag,” dedicating the occasion of Baisakhi -the birthday of the Khalsa, as the Sikh national day, Sikh political body Dal Khalsa will hold a Khalsa March from the foregrounds of the historic White city of the Sikhs – Anandpur Sahib to Takht Kesgarh Sahib on 13 April and also hoist the Sarkar-e-Khalsa flag. A WSN report.

To pay homage to the 13 martyrs who laid down their lives on 13 April 1978, during a spirited move to counter the anti-Sikh neo-Nirankari -Indian state-sponsored cult’s gross blasphemy and interference in the Sikh faith, to seek the release of Sikh political prisoners and to reiterate the call for self-determination, Dal Khalsa will hold a political conference on the occasion of Khalsa Sajna Diwas, followed by Ardas -supplication to the Guru at the historic throne -Takht Kesgarh Sahib -the birthplace of the Khalsa, declared the leadership of Dal Khalsa at a press meet today.

Speaking to the media, Dal Khalsa president Harpal Singh Cheema said, “The Hindutva government at the centre, along with the Punjab government has unleashed terror on Sikh youth, built a climate of fear by detaining scores of youth under NSA and lodging them far away from the home state.”

The Indian state’s onslaughts on Sikhs will not undermine or decrease their resolve to continue their struggle for self-rule from Indian hegemony.

The party statement released at the press meet stated, “Dal Khalsa is of the firm belief that with an eye on the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the present dispensation led by Narendra Modi has cleverly pitted the rest of India against the Sikhs by engineering a volatile situation in Punjab, portraying Sikhs as a threat to national security who deserve baton, bullets and prisons.”

Serving a cautionary note to the people of Punjab, who just a year were grossly misled into returning the Aam Aadmi Party to power in Punjab, Dal Khalsa said it was high time to read between the lines

“This design by the Union combined with the Punjab government has been crafted and executed to keep Punjab on the boil and we expect the coming times to spring more dangerous surprises in the run-up to the polls, observed the Dal Khalsa leadership.

The sinister move to use the Sikh card to overawe Indians to win 2024 elections will backfire.

Deriding the entire move of the police, security and administration in Punjab and Delhi, party political secretary Kanwar Pal Singh, blamed that the entire Bollywood style operations in Punjab were by the dirty-tricks department of the government of India meant to overawe the rest of India that Punjab was likely to slip out of India’s hands and Modi government’s timely action has saved it from the Khalistanis.

“There’s no threat to peace in Punjab. The move to create a rift between religious communities living in Punjab has had no impact on cordial relations between Sikhs and Hindus. The disruption to peace is in fact by the state as it still sees everything as a law-and-order problem and not as a conflict that needs resolution,” said party spokesman Paramjit Singh Mand.

Countering the call of Sikh activist Amritpal Singh asking Jathedar Akal Takht Harpreet Singh to convene the Sikh plenary session -Sarbat Khalsa, Kanwarpal Singh said that neither the timing nor the ground situation was conducive for such a meet.

Responding to a media query about Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann coordinating with Indian Home Minister Amit Shah for the operations in Punjab, Dal Khalsa General Secretary Paramjit Singh Tanda lambasted the CM and said, “Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal has gone on record that the Amritpal Singh operation was a joint operation between the Punjab government and the Union government.” Party senior leader Jasbir Singh Khandoor, without mincing words called Bhagwant Mann a spineless person, who has unwittingly and wittingly unleashed state terror in Punjab.
