The Panth Sewak Jatha comprising religious and political activists in a joint statement have addressed the Indian state’s ongoing security operations in Punjab and stated that the Indian state is intentionally trying to create a tense and fearful atmosphere in Punjab. A WSN Report.

Panth Sewak Jatha comprising Amrik Singh Isru, Bhupinder Singh Pehalwan, Daljit Singh, Hardeep Singh Mehraj, Lal Singh Akalgarh, Manjeet Singh Phagwara, Narain Singh, Rajinder Singh Mughalwal, Satnam Singh Jhanjian, Satnam Singh Khandewal and Sukhdev Singh Dod have chided the Punjab government for operating as a front for the Delhi administration in their anti-Sikh maneouvres across the state of Punjab.

Rising to the occasion, a large number Sikh bodies are coming forward to counter the security offensive ostensibly to arrest one person and in that garb detain more than a hundred, stop internet services, clamp the draconian NSA, shift the detenues to Assam, launch a media offensive with trivial details leaked by intelligence and police forces.

“Given the manner in which mobile communications and the Internet have been shut down while security forces arrest Sikh youth across Punjab, it is clear that the Indian state is executing its strategy to craft and impose a narrative against Sikhs and Punjab across the subcontinent,” reads the statement released to the media.

“All legal procedures and norms are being thrown to the wind with complete impunity to the police for its behaviour, reporting and tactics.”

Members of the collective noted that the security operations over the last few days are the next phase of the Indian state’s strategy to isolate and target Sikhs in response to the capacity, influence, and strength demonstrated by Sikhs in the subcontinent and around the world during the pandemic and the Kisaan Sangarsh.

They reiterated that the Indian state has been terrified in recent years by the political capital and capacity demonstrated by Sikhs and Punjab, as well as the growing political consciousness demonstrated by Sikh youth today. In response to this, Indian agencies are intentionally creating instability in Punjab in order to repress political mobilization and justify their violent actions.

“In its enthusiasm to demonize the Sikhs at a time when the G20 is currently on in Amritsar, the Punjab government has put up a poor show of its stupidity and weakness before an international audience. History will record this,” said Daljit Singh speaking to WSN.

“The need of the hour is to develop a common understanding of our circumstances and a collective strategy to confront the current challenges,”

“The need of the hour is to develop a common understanding of our circumstances and a collective strategy to confront the current challenges,” he added.

Calling upon the people of Punjab to maintain discipline, cooperation and collaboration to counter the state offensive, the statement said “Sikh activists and organizations must develop a common understanding of the circumstances as well as a collective strategy to confront the current onslaught so that we can stop the Punjab government’s attempts at arresting our youth.”

“We should unitedly and intelligently use all legal recourse to stop harassment and arrange for legal aid for all detained without fear or favour.”

“We should unitedly and intelligently use all legal recourse to stop harassment and arrange for legal aid for all detained without fear or favour.”

Striking a historical religious note, the devout religious leaders and steadfast activists who have borne the brunt of the Indian state for long said, “Khalsa Panth has always persevered through every obstacle and challenge with the blessings of the Guru. The path to combating our current challenges lies in returning to our roots and traditions, ensuring our individual lives and collective activism are rooted in Gurmat, and remaining steadfast in our faith in Guru Granth-Guru Panth.”
