Punjabi activist imprisoned for defacing English-Hindi sign boards in Chandigarh
Baljit Singh Khalsa, a die heard Punjabi protagonist who for the last many years has been upholding the cause of Punjabi language in Chandigarh -the capital city of Punjab has been imprisoned. In August 2017, he was detained for defacing a sign board in the prestigious Sector 17 of the City Beautiful which had no mention in Punjabi. A court today sentenced him for three months in jail and a fine of Rupees twenty thousand. He refused to apply for bail and was sent to jail.
