Baljit Singh Khalsa, a die heard Pun­jabi pro­tag­o­nist who for the last many years has been up­hold­ing the cause of Pun­jabi lan­guage in Chandi­garh -the cap­i­tal city of Pun­jab has been im­pris­oned. In Au­gust 2017, he was de­tained for de­fac­ing a sign board in the pres­ti­gious Sec­tor 17 of the City Beau­ti­ful which had no men­tion in Pun­jabi. A court to­day sen­tenced him for three months in jail and a fine of Ru­pees twenty thou­sand. He re­fused to ap­ply for bail and was sent to jail.
