Seeman pays homage to Eelam Tamils on 10th Genocide Remembrance Day
On the 10th Remembrance Day, at its headquarters in Chennai, the pro-Tamil party Naam Tamilar Katchi, in the presence of party leader Seeman and party activists, paid respects and homage to Eelam Tamils who were killed in the Tamil genocide perpetrated against them in Sri Lanka.
Seeman-led Naam Tamilar Katchi remembered the martyrdom of thousands of Eelam Tamils brutally killed in the final phase of the Eelam Tamil war of independence with Sri Lanka which ended with the death of Eelam Tamil leaders on 18 May 2009.
While the Tamil population in Sri Lanka still continues to reel under the tutelage of the Sinhalese leadership of Buddhist Sri Lanka, the Tamil Diaspora has not forgotten the martyrs nor the perpetrators. From Chennai to Ontario, Tamils have paid tributes to those killed in the Sri Lanka genocidal war against Eelam Tamils in the North and East of Sri Lanka.
Naam Tamilar Katchi has mentioned in its statement that “the government of Sri Lanka indulged in war crimes that this world has never seen. Banned cluster bombs were used, chemical weapons were used on civilian targets. No fire zones, hospitals were repeatedly bombed and surrendered civilians were massacred.”
Speaking exclusively to The World Sikh News, Seeman said, “Humanitarian and human rights agencies were denied access to the war zone and an entire race of people were annihilated by the brutal Sri Lankan forces.”
“The international community was caught unawares and still, no justice has been done”, he added.
The hegemony of Lankan Govt continues even today with systematic ethnic cleansing against which the Tamils are staging peaceful protests.
In his statement to the media, Seeman condemned the activities of Sri Lankan Government and called for people to revisit history and remember those who martyred for their motherland fighting against the despotic armed forces of the Sri Lankan government.
