Expressing deep concern at the incidents of violence against Kashmiri students, traders and professionals in various parts of India, Tamil nationalist leader Seeman and his pro-Tamil party Naam Tamilar Katchi strongly condemns the hate attacks and urges Tamil brethren to rise to the occasion and support Kashmiris who are in need of any assistance.

Welcoming the Supreme Court intervention to protect Kashmiris across India, the Tamil nationalist party Naam Tamilar Katchi, in a statement to the media has strongly condemned the hatred and violence being spread under the patronage of the Bharatiya Janta Party. The pro-Tamil leader Seeman has appealed to all Tamil people to support and ensure safety of all Kashmiris.

The Naam Tamilar Katchi has also the recent arrests of Kashmiri leaders and other Muslim leaders in Kashmir.

“The Naam Tamilar Katchi stands firm with our Kashmiri brothers and sisters. The party reiterates its position that the conflict in Kashmir is a political conflict and it should be resolved politically taking into account the aspirations of the people of Kashmir.”

Speaking exclusively to The World Sikh News, the Seeman  said, “I have appealed to my party cadre to ensure that no harm comes to any Kashmiri in Tamil Nadu and neighbouring states. In this region, Kashmiri students and residents in distress should contact Naam Tamil Katchi members and we will ensure their safety.”

Responding to the support rendered by Sikh organisations to Kashmiris, Seeman said, “My Sikh brethren have shown exemplary speed and humanitarian spirit. Tamils should follow their Sikh brethren and support Kashmiris.”

Welcoming the intervention of the Supreme Court of India to ensure safety and security of Kashmiris, NTK leader Seeman said, “We have seen violence and conflicts in the past but such reprisal attacks are a new trend and must be busted at the earliest. No constitution allows acting out patriotism against innocent people.”

“I appeal to all cadres of Naam Tamilar Katchi to ensure that no harm comes to any Kashmiri in Tamil Nadu and neighbouring states. Kashmiri students and residents in distress should contact Naam Tamil Katchi members and we will ensure their safety. Tamils must follow the humanitarian spirit shown by our Sikh brethren.”

In an important remark, he added, “the role of educational institutions monitoring the social media accounts of Kashmiris or anyone dissenting against majority opinion is also a dangerous trend and such an attack on an individual’s liberty to have a different opinion must be respected and allowed and not curtailed under any circumstances.  Such hyper-sensitivity will demolish the democratic credentials of this country.”

Chastising the Modi government, the statement issued by NTK to the media reads, “The world community is wondering how Modi proposes to fight for Kashmir but allow his goons to attack the Kashmiris. The belated statement of PM Narendra Modi may apply some balm on the wounds of the Kashmiris but the government must act post-haste and halt the vicious and unjust acts by the BJP, RSS and other Sangh organisations.”

Speaking to WSN, he said, “Every Kashmiri has a right to live free from fear and to reside in any part of India. I strongly urge the Central and all State Governments to act and ensure the safety of Kashmiri students and traders across the country immediately without any delay.”
