Shah Rukh Khan’s ZERO insults Kirpan, Sikhs angry

 -  -  83

Aanand L Rai and Shah Rukh Khan’s new film “Zero” insults the Sikh article of faith -Kirpan. Sikhs are contemplating legal and social action against the lead actor and the producers. Mumbai Sikhs are preparing to pursue the Central Board of Film Certification.

Zero scores zero with the Sikhs. In a scene, the lead actor and darling of the masses in India -Shah Rukh Khan wears undergarments with a Kirpan on top. The Kirpan  –one of the five sacred articles of the Sikh faith for a devout Sikh.

It is not only reprehensible but absolutely unnecessary. In the trailer, already watched by millions, though the Kirpan is visible with great difficulty for a few seconds, it is prominently displayed in the posters.

First as the producer of Manmarziyan and now as the producer of Zero starring leading actor Shah Rukh Khan, producer Aanand L. Rai is again playing with the sentiments of the Sikhs. Shockingly, the Central Board of Film Certification is full of purblind people who cannot stop the film fraternity for indulging in such blasphemy in the name of artistic liberty.

We will now get the typical excuse from the Indian media and self-proclaimed secularists that, “after all, it is just a movie”. Yes, it is, but Bollywood must understand that it is testing Sikh patience.  As Bollywood seems to be taking Sikhs for granted, Sikhs will have to take immediate social and legal action against the perpetrators and the CBFC.

Bollywood is testing the patience of the Sikhs, yet again. DSGMC general secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa has filed a police complaint in the matter. Kulwant Singh of the Singh Sabha Mumbai , speaking to WSN has said, “This is disturbing and unacceptable. We will immediately take it up with the Censor Board.”
