Shil­long Up­date: Megha­laya gov­ern­ment threat­ens poor Sikhs again

Despite an order of stay by the National Commission for Minorities and delayed proceedings in the Shillong High Court, the high level committee of the Meghalaya government is placing a Damocle’s sword on the poor Sikh residents by threatening to restart the absolutely illegal house-to-house inventory. The Sikh residents also await promised funds for their Gurdwara Sahib and school from the Punjab government and the SGPC. Shillong, India, 17 August 2018,

De­spite an or­der of stay by the Na­tional Com­mis­sion for Mi­nori­ties and de­layed pro­ceed­ings in the Shil­long High Court, the high level com­mit­tee of the Megha­laya gov­ern­ment is plac­ing a Damo­cle’s sword on the poor Sikh res­i­dents by threat­en­ing to restart the ab­solutely il­le­gal house-to-house in­ven­tory.
