Sikh activists Paddle for Peace in the heart of Delhi in Covid19 times
100-plus bicyclists, including senior citizens and women, paddled through the heart of West Delhi near Rajouri Garden, spreading a message of peace to passers-by and those gathered to cheer them.
LED BY THE SIKH YOUTH FOUNDATION OF DELHI, RIDERS FROM from United Sikhs Delhi, Ocean War Academy and Cycle Buddies sporting “Paddle For Peace” T-Shirts, young athletes, school and college students, some elderly gentlemen, and a 10-year-old Taskirat Singh cycled with great enthusiasm, covering a distance of 13 kilometres, passing through Rajouri Garden. Raja Garden, Tilak Nagar, Lajwanti Chowk and Mayapuri.
Two cycling heroes -Deepak Singh from Chattarpur traversed a distance of 24 kilometres and Sachin from Faridabad paddled 42 kilometres to participate in the event.
The young participants were encouraged by Nishkam Sikh Welfare Society founder and former President Harbhajan Singh Sawhney and Voice for Voiceless director Manpreet Singh. Addressing the gathering Harbhajan Singh said, “To succeed remember the 3 Cs -Confidence, Concentration and Contentment.”
Speaking to World Sikh News, Sikh Youth Foundation leader Harneek Singh said, “In these difficult times, it is imperative to talk about peace. Cycling and exercising are essential activities to fight Covid19 times.”
“Sikh Youth Foundation has been supporting medical requirements and providing masks to those in need and ration kits to Sikh Sangat, Sewadars, Granthis, Kathawachaks and Ragis in Chander Vihar, Tilak Nagar, Rajouri Garden and East Delhi,” he added.
Sukhbir Singh of the Sikh Youth Foundation said that the youth should come forward and spiritually prepare to effectively manage Sikh institutions.
