Sikh leader Manjit Singh GK offers humanitarian aid to Palestine
Taking the lead to becoming the first Sikh leader to offer humanitarian aid to Palestinian children and women in the ongoing war between Israel and Palestine, the President of the Jago party in Delhi, former President of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee -Manjit Singh GK, met Adnan Mohammed Jaber Abu Alhayjaa, Palestinian ambassador to India at the Palestinian embassy in Delhi, along with his party delegation. Appealing for peace and global harmony by immediate cessation of hostilities by the two warring countries -Israel and Palestine, the senior leadership of the Jago party, including women leaders expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people, especially thousands of children and women who were dying by the war in the escalation of the war in the Gaza Strip.
“We understand that the State of Palestine is currently facing a humanitarian crisis and it has always been an endeavour of Sikhs to cater to the welfare of mankind. In this regard we offer our assistance to provide humanitarian aid to the people of Palestine and the requirements of the civil and food supplies may be intimated to us.”
Talking to the Palestinian Ambassador Adnan Muhammad Jaber Abu Al Haija for a good part of the hour, Manjit Singh GK said, “Sikhs around the world are deeply concerned about the ongoing conflict in West Asia, which has resulted into loss of precious lives in both Israel and Palestine. Sikhs have always vowed global peace and harmony in line with the principle of universal brotherhood preached by the founder of the Sikh faith -Guru Nanak.
The delegation offered to send essential medicines and raw food rations as humanitarian aid to Palestine and sought free passage to reach Palestine.
The delegation included Dr. Parminder Pal Singh, Principal Secretary General of the Jago Party, Mandeep Kaur Bakshi, State President of Kaur Brigade, Delhi Committee member Satnam Singh Khalsa, Jago Party leaders Jatinder Singh Bobby, Davinder Kaur, and Sukhman Singh.
Speaking to WSN, Manjit Singh GK said, “The Palestinian Ambassador referred to the bullying of Western countries, claiming that there has been a brutal genocide of humanity in Palestine. The seeds of hatred were sown here 102 years ago by the British. As a result, we are paying the price today with the loss of thousands of lives.”
“Our supply of electricity, water, and food has been cut off. In this war, so far about 13,000 children, youths, and women have been killed. There are still about 2,500 people lying dead under the rubble. This fight is important for us, we cannot abandon our Al Aqsa Mosque, as it is our first Karbala,” said the concerned ambassador to the Sikh delegation.
Manjit Singh GK told WSN, “Like always, Sikhs have always strived for the welfare of humanity.”
Referring to the ongoing war, he said, “We appeal to all parties to cease warfare and maintain peace and harmony.”
Dr. Parminder Pal Singh, who was part of the delegation told The World Sikh News that, “We offered to provide humanitarian aid to them. We asked them for food supply needs in Palestine.”
“The Palestinian Ambassador thanked the delegation and expressed gratitude to the Sikh community for standing with them during difficult times,” he added.
