Sikh participation at Jamia and Shaheen Bagh boosts protesters spirit
Sikh political leaders, human rights activists, social and religious activists presence at Shaheen Bagh has added a unique dimension to the ongoing protests at Jamia and Shaheen Bagh, rattling the administration and boosting the morale and spirit of the protestors. A bunch of Dal Khalsa activists led by Kanwar Pal Singh accompanied by human rights activist Jagmohan Singh and Sikh civil rights volunteers from Delhi visited the protest sites and expressed full solidarity with the Muslim men, women and children.
FROM THE PRIME MINISTER TO THE HOME MINISTER OF INDIA TO the Bharatiya Janata Party members of Parliament -all of them are scared of the peaceful protestors at Jamia and Shaheen Bagh.
As soon as the Dal Khalsa learnt that there had been two firings by hate-mongers to scare the protestors, they descended on Jamia and Shaheen Bagh to express full support to the brave women protestors at the protest sites.
“We knew that in desperation, the BJP government is attempting to smash the protest against CAA and that is why we decided to be with you shoulder to shoulder, in thick and in,” said Dal Khalsa spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh.
“I assure you that while the government is attempting to scare you, we are here to assure you that this is part of state terrorism. We complement you for your sagacity and patience in the last 51 days. The Muslim community has risen out of the phoenix and the Indian state is bamboozled not knowing how to react,” said Kanwarpal Singh.
Speaking exclusively to WSN from Jamia Milia Islamia, Kanwarpal Singh, accompanied by his Sikh Youth of Punjab activists said, “The delegation of Dal Khalsa visited Jamia Islamic University, Hauz Rani and Shaheen Bagh to join hands with the Muslim community in rejecting the CAA and NRC. The new amendments to the Citizenship Act are divisive and discriminative and must be immediately withdrawn.”
Addressing the audience, Kanwar Pal Singh slammed the Hindutva brigade for stoking a communal fire in the country to polarize the society in view of Delhi assembly polls. “India’s Home Minister Amit Shah is pitting Hindus against Muslims,” he added.
He said, “Shah is exploiting Hindu sentiments to grab their votes by name-calling Shaheen Bagh protest”. For Amit Shah, Shaheen Bagh has become a nightmare as thousands of Muslim women supported by people of other religions were endorsing the spirited protest against fascist policies of the Modi government.
“The firing at Jamia in which a Kashmiri student was injured by sponsoring violence through non-state actors is an admittance of moral defeat by the Indian government,” Kanwarpal Singh told WSN.

At Hauz Rani protest venue hundreds of girl students and women gathered to listen to the Sikh leaders. women and girls gathered to listen to the Sikh leaders.
“You are not alone in this hour of crisis. It is time for all minorities to come together and unitedly counter this campaign of hate. It is not for us to prove our credentials. They are in the dock. They have to prove that they respect the principles of natural justice and the Indian constitution in letter and spirit,” said human rights activist and WSN editor Jagmohan Singh, who accompanied the Sikh youngsters to the protest demonstrations.
Taking a jibe at Home Minister Amit Shah who had said that press the EVM button that the current reaches Shaheen Bagh, Jagmohan Singh said, “Without pressing any button, the current from Shaheen Bagh has reached the Home Minister of India and many of his lumpens. Congratulations to the brave women of Shaheen Bagh.”
“They want to suppress this Shaheen Bagh. Today there are Shaheen Baghs, across the country and the world too. The phenomenon of Shaheen Bagh has swept their feet under the carpet and now there is no looking back,” he added.

Amidst the chant of repeated sloganeering, young Sikh activist Angad Singh from Kashmir said, “We are following the footsteps of Guru Tegh Bahadur.” Harwinder Singh from Delhi, while addressing the meet expressed full sympathy with the mother of the toddler who died protesting in cold conditions and said that the kid should be seen as a martyr.
When an organizer at Hauz Rani, in his thanksgiving speech to the Sikh delegates said, “Buland Punjab Zindabad”, activists and leaders felt that notwithstanding the nonchalance of the established Sikh leadership, Sikhs had honoured the call of their Guru.
