Young social media influencer and globe-trotter Harjinder Singh Kukreja takes Amritsar and Paris to the Forbes Best Budget Destinations for 2018 through his twitter reach closing-in on the one million mark, making the Sikh community proud of his achievements.

The city of God’s overflowing nectar -Amritsar and the city of the iconic Eiffel Tower -Paris, both visited by Harjinder Singh Kukreja -the world traveller with his heart in the right place, find a unique mention in the Forbes List of affordable destinations from across the world. Harjinder Singh Kukreja is the only Sikh and Indian to make it to the Forbes listing. Remarkably, Amritsar -the city of the Golden Temple is the only Indian city to make it to the list of “27 Best Budget Travel Destinations for 2018”.

It is indeed an honour for the young Sikh as it is to the Sikh community for his tweets and work as a world traveller have been appreciated and recognized by a mention in the Forbes List. He is the only one in the list who has recommended not one but two, family tourist destinations -Amritsar and Paris. This has undoubtedly been possible because of the huge social media reach of Harjinder Singh which is daily increasing by leaps and bounds.

It is wondrous that visitors to Amritsar -to the Mecca and Vatican of the Sikhs -the Golden Temple sees a phenomenal increase year after year. This number is not of Sikhs alone, thousands of friends of Sikhs and those who admire the simplicity of the Sikh religion and the serene and spiritual atmosphere of Darbar Sahib make a beeline round the clock to Darbar Sahib and the Guru Ka Langar where more than a hundred thousand people partake food day and night.

Writing in the Forbes List on the basis of suggestions from widely travelled bloggers, Alexandra Tatly says, “World traveller, chocolate enthusiast and Sikh activist Harjinder Singh Kukreja jets around the globe with his family of four.” She says that “Home to the Harmandir Sahib, or Golden Temple, Amritsar is an important spiritual and pilgrimage centre of the Sikh religion.  The north-western Indian city also boasts ornate architecture and a peek into the painful history of British colonization. Although the city welcomes thousands of tourists a day, there are plenty of options for budget-minded travellers.”

As regards Paris she says, “Although many travellers consider France to be a not-so cheap country, it is possible to visit the city of lights on a budget.” The French embassies in the US and other places have retweeted the Forbes post.

Visit Britan

The next two cities that I will be highlighting as family destinations are London and Birmingham and I shall shortly be going to these two cities in December. My visit to Britain is hosted and sponsored by Visit Britain.
