Sikh Youth in Canada’s BC Unite for Advocacy and Sovereignty
In a significant move toward fostering unity and purpose-driven activism, several Sikh youth organisations in British Columbia, Canada have formed the Panthic Alliance BC. This coalition aims to advance Sikh sovereignty through peaceful means, community outreach and political advocacy while upholding the principles of Gurmat and addressing pressing community issues. WSN reports.
Given the deep fissures within the Sikh community—both globally and in Punjab—the initiative to form Panthic Alliance BC in Canada, for unity of purpose and action marks an encouraging first step toward collective action after a long period of fragmentation in Canada and elsewhere, particularly amongst the youth organisations.
The formation of this alliance is particularly notable because it brings together diverse Panthic organizations that have hitherto operated independently. Their decision to join hands and hearts for the common good signals a new chapter of cooperation and shared vision.
The Panthic Alliance has pledged to tackle community concerns at both the local and Panthic levels. As spelled out in their release, their objectives include, “resolving internal conflicts, strengthening advocacy efforts, and mobilizing resources for grassroots initiatives that benefit the broader Sikh Sangat.”
“The key role of the Panthic Alliance of BC is to resolve internal community conflicts, strengthen advocacy efforts, and mobilise resources for grassroots initiatives that benefit the broader Sikh Sangat, without losing the focus on Sikh sovereignty through peaceful political advocacy.”
As part of their first major activity after formation of the coalition, The Panthic Alliance of BC and Gurdwara Dasmesh Darbar Sahib will be presenting a Panthic Expo 2025 on Vaisakhi demonstrating a united effort of local, national, and international Panthic groups to bring forward Panthic Parchaar on a new level for Sangat. The Panthic Expo will include exhibitions, museums and displays.
WSN learns that they would make fervent appeals for sanity and focus given the disturbing developments on the religious and political fronts in the Punjab.
A spokesperson for the alliance described unity as a principle that must be rooted in shared values rather than mere symbolism. “True Panthic unity cannot be performative. It must be built on a strong foundation of Gurmat and the collective aspiration for Sikh sovereignty,” the statement read.
Among the groups forming this coalition are Akal Force, Babbar Akali Lehar, BC Akhand Kirtani Jatha Educational Society, Chalda Vaheer Canada, North American Sikh Association, Panthic Media, The Undying Morcha, Toofan Singh Youth Federation, and Satkaar Sewa Network Society. Their collective participation signals a growing awareness that collaboration is necessary to navigate the challenges facing the Sikh community today.
Panthic bservers note that this development is particularly heartening given the divisions that have long plagued Sikh institutions and organizations worldwide. While ideological and strategic differences remain, this alliance demonstrates that the next generation is willing to rise above factionalism to work toward a shared Panthic agenda.
“For too long, we have seen internal discord weaken our collective strength. If our youth can lead the way with unity and resolve, it sets a strong precedent for others to follow.”
“This is the first meaningful attempt in a long time to bridge gaps in the community,” said a community member familiar with the initiative.

The Panthic Alliance BC has called upon the wider Sikh sangat to support their efforts and stay engaged through social media updates.
