Sukhbir Singh Badal’s crocodile tears over November 1984 hurt Sikhs

 -  -  224

Sukhbir Singh Badal continues to shed crocodile tears and sermonises Punjab CM Capt. Amarinder Singh on being a bad Sikh, as he continues to give a clean chit to the Gandhis and the Kamal Naths for their hand in the November 1984 anti-Sikh carnage. It doubly hurts.

The Shiromani Akali Dal has a new found love for the victims and the victim families of November 1984. The public display of this started with the slapping of the convict Yashpal Singh by Delhi MLA and DSGMC general secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa in the Patiala House Courts. This was followed by the defence of this act by DSGMC president Manjit Singh GK. Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal and his wife and Member Parliament Harsimrat Kaur Badal roared on TV that “Shiromani Akali Dal Badal has been pursuing cases of November 1984 killings since the last 34 years.” The defacing of the statue of Rajiv Gandhi is a new addition to the list.

Ire over November 1984 is imperative but political showcasing is downright inhuman.  Two major judgements in 34 years is not an occasion to take credit but a cause for concern and shame for the party which claims that it has been pursuing cases all these three decades.

“The Wall of Truth in Delhi is wailing to witness the truth of Sikh and Indian leaders. Crocodile tears will not help Sukhbir Singh Badal and his ilk to win over the Sikhs.”

Can anything more be further from truth? Does Sukhbir Singh Badal or even the DSGMC president have exact statistics of the number of Sikhs killed in November 1984, apart from the official statistic of 2733 killed given out by the Ranganath Mishra Commission?

Today, as one can see in Teena Kaur Pasricha’s documentary, “When the Sun did not rise?”, can the Badal party tell us how many of the Sikh youth in Tilak Nagar and other areas are drug abusers and who is responsible for that? What has the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) done regarding this in the past and what is it doing now? What is anybody doing now? Does it not shame Sukhbir Singh Badal, his party leadership in Delhi and the Sikhs in general that we have a colony which is called a Widows Colony? Have we not become utterly shameless?

Hundreds of cheques meant for widows are allowed to lapse every month as the poor widows cannot make it to Gurdwara Bangla Sahib from far off Sultanpuri, Kalyanpuri and trans-Yamuna areas?Has Sukhbir Singh Badal’s party ever done an audit of how the doles are given to the widows of November 1984? How many widows collect the doles? What does DSGMC do when the poor widows -particularly those of them who are still poor to even collect the doles and rations from Gurdwara Bangla Sahib do not visit to collect their monthly dues?

“How many speeches and interventions were made by Shiromani Akali Dal Badal members of Parliament on the November 1984 killings in the last 34 years?”

Sukhbir Singh Badal’s narration that his party pursued November 1984 case in Parliament is a blatant lie unless persuasion means a mention. How many speeches and interventions were made by Shiromani Akali Dal Badal members of Parliament on the November 1984 killings in the last 34 years?

For Sukhbir Singh Badal to say that his party has taken up this issue on the international front is a gross lie and an abuse of the position that he is in.

Sukhbir Singh Badal and his party first used the 1984 judgement convicting Yashpal Singh and others and then the Sajjan Kumar judegement to regain foothold within the community. It cannot be more crass and deplorable than this.

The Congress party leadership meticulously planned the killing of Sikhs on the drawing board. The second and third level leadership of the Indian National Congress party orchestrated and carried out the Sikh killings through incitement, goading and patronage of lumpens in Delhi, which were their vote bank.

The leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party save some honourable exceptions like Ram Jethmalani acquiesced in the Congress game and at many places participated in the killings of the Sikhs. Sukhbir Singh Badal’s ally the Bharatiya Janata Party was also responsible. The documentation of the role of the RSS during the carnage is slowly seeing the light of the day.

The Wall of Truth in Delhi is wailing to witness the truth of Sikh and Indian leaders. Crocodile tears will not help Sukhbir Singh Badal and his ilk to win over the Sikhs.
