Sunshine is on the horizon, get out of darkness
On the occasion of World Earth Day, young artist Gurleen Kaur celebrates with a poem and a painting urging people across the world to boldly brave the fallout of the present public health situation and see the positive side of things. While the entire scenario may be depressing, but solace, encouragement and motivation are tools of humankind. Her words provide the much-needed soothing touch. WSN proudly presents the work of this young artist and promises more to come.
EVERY MORNING THE SUN RISES bearing gifts of a new day and filling our life with light. The branches of trees dance in the ambrosial hours, birds sing and warmth oozes out and touches the soul. Cherish this and you will be overcome the darkness around you, she tells us through her painting and her words.
One in every five is depressed
Only a few are seeking help
Of the population of billions
Mental health threatens millions
Yet, sunshine is on the horizon, get out of darkness
Schizophrenia and insomnia are gorging brains
Stigma inhibits from achieving aims
With a negative attitude of others
Gullible suffer and be losers
No worries, sunshine is on the horizon, get out of darkness
Treatment isn’t shameful
It’ll make life colourful
Don’t be deterred from joy life offers
When legs lose strength, grit works
When the sun shines, darkness disappears
Mental health treatable
Physical health improvable
Happiness achievable
Life liveable
Sunshine is in, out goes darkness
